01 — Discovery & Planning

Every project begins with thoughtful discovery.

We learn how you live, the friction you want to remove, and the style you want to see. This is our chance to understand your space and set a design direction tailored to your routines.

Initial Consultation (Virtual, Free)

We start with a complimentary virtual/phone meeting where we:

  • Learn how you intend to use the space
  • Identify pain points with your current storage
  • Discuss goals, style preferences, and desired functionality
  • Review inspiration photos or mood boards
  • Outline anticipated timelines
  • Provide early guidance on layout direction and investment ranges

This session gives you clarity on what’s possible and gives us the foundation to design a space that supports your lifestyle.

During Discovery, we capture:

  • The full picture of how the space needs to perform
  • Your routines, habits, and home environment
  • Details that will inform layout, materials, and accessories

Next Step Options

Choose your path

Option A — Site Visit

Drew will visit your home to:

  • Take preliminary measurements
  • Assess wall conditions, flooring, trim, and ceiling height
  • Identify structural details that may affect design
  • Understand traffic flow and adjacent spaces
  • Discuss organization needs in more detail

Ideal for moving quickly into hard measurements and layout verification. Expect roughly 30 minutes plus 5–10 minutes per closet.

Option B — Visit Our Showroom

Clients who prefer a tactile experience can visit our Ann Arbor showroom to:

  • Explore finish options and materials
  • See hardware, drawers, lighting, and accessories in person
  • Touch and feel the quality of TrueForm closets
  • Refine design vision with hands-on samples
  • Enjoy a 5% discount on accessories or upgrades

Please come prepared with measurements to the nearest ½ foot—your phone is accurate enough for this step.

Option C — Paid Site Visit

We cover everything in Option A, plus Drew designs each closet on site with real-time changes and layouts.

  • Includes on-site design with immediate adjustments
  • Helps minimize lead times and skip straight to production
  • Free lighting or material upgrades in this option

There is a $200 design fee that is returned once the job is booked. Expect 1–2 hours; you do not need to be present for all of it.

02 — Design, Engineering & Manufacturing

From ideas to precise plans and production.

Once Discovery is complete, we transition into detailed design and production to ensure accuracy, quality, and consistency.

Design Development

Using your initial measurements or showroom selections, Drew will:

  • Create custom layouts tailored to your goals
  • Develop detailed elevations and 3D renderings
  • Review accessory options (drawers, hampers, lighting, shoe storage, etc.)
  • Provide alternative layouts if needed
  • Ensure aesthetics align with functionality and workflow

Measurement Confirmation

After you approve your design and place a deposit, we:

  • Visit the home (if we haven’t already)
  • Take final precision measurements
  • Confirm wall conditions, obstructions, electrical elements, and floor level
  • Make onsite adjustments or design tweaks as needed
  • Issue a final revised plan for your approval

Material Ordering & Production

Once measurements are confirmed and approved:

  • Materials are ordered from our suppliers
  • Your project enters our production schedule
  • Components are cut, banded, drilled, and prepared with exact specifications
  • Quality checks are performed at each stage
  • Hardware, accessories, and lighting are assembled and packaged

Scheduling Your Installation

With production underway, we coordinate:

  • An installation date that fits your schedule
  • Expected lead times
  • Pre-installation instructions (if needed)

03 — Installation, Care & Completion

This is where your vision becomes reality.

We protect your home, install with precision, and stay with you through the final walkthrough and closeout.

Arrival & Job Walkthrough

On installation day, our team arrives ready to work.

  • Drew meets with Todd (our installation lead)
  • Together, they confirm knob/handle placement, staging areas, closet flow, and special requests
  • We review the layout with you and capture any last-minute considerations

Protecting Your Home

We take great care to respect your space:

  • Installers wear dedicated “install shoes” or use protective drop cloths
  • Moving blankets are laid down to safeguard flooring
  • Tools are staged on padded surfaces
  • Dust and debris are managed throughout the day

Installation Execution

Our team:

  • Builds out storage systems methodically
  • Ensures perfect leveling and alignment

  • Todd oversees every detail to meet TrueForm standards

Final Walkthrough

Once installation is complete:

  • Todd or Drew walks the space with you
  • We review drawers, shelving, lighting, doors, and accessories
  • Adjust anything needed on the spot
  • Answer questions about care and usage

Final Payment & Project Closeout

Final payment is collected only after you’ve approved the completed project. We then:

  • Clean the entire work area
  • Wipe all surfaces with a non-toxic cleaner
  • Remove tools, packaging, and debris
  • Leave your home spotless and ready to enjoy
