Custom Closets in Ypsilanti, Step by Step
Ypsilanti has some of the most character-filled houses in the area. Older homes around Depot Town, near Eastern Michigan University and along the Huron River were built when closets were an afterthought. Newer homes on the edges of town have the opposite problem: plenty of space and not much of a plan for it. Here is how we handle either one.
Step 1: We come to you
Drew visits your Ypsilanti home, measures, and looks at the things that matter in an older house: ceiling height, trim, wall conditions and anything that might affect the layout. Then you talk about how you use the space and what bugs you about it now.
Step 2: You see it before we build it
You get a 3D design with layouts and accessory options like drawers, hampers, lighting and shoe storage. Revisions are part of the process. Small reach-in closets are common in older Ypsi homes, and reach-ins start at $750.
Step 3: We build it in our shop
Once you approve the design, we confirm final measurements and cut every panel to fit in our Ann Arbor shop. Expect roughly 2 to 3 weeks between your design sign-off and install day. Hardware, accessories and lighting are packed up with your order so nothing is missing when we arrive.
Step 4: Install day
Todd leads the install, usually in a single day. We lay down protection for your floors, take out the old shelving, level everything carefully and clean up when we are done. Then Todd or Drew walks the finished space with you and answers any questions about care and everyday use.
A walk-in with lighting built in

This is a 7 by 10 foot primary closet with white cabinetry, black hardware and layered LED lighting: vertical strips in the side bays, a puck light over each hanging section, and lighting in every drawer. Dual banks of soft-close drawers anchor the layout, with a center tower for shoes and full-height bays for long garments.
Whether it is a century-old closet or a brand new pantry, we would love to see it.

- Ceiling height, trim, wall conditions and any structural details that could affect the layout. It is all part of the in-home visit.
